Tex Norman - Fine Artist

Tex Norman

Tex Norman

OKC, OK - United States

The artist, tex norman, has been drawing and painting since the age of 4. His father was a commercial artist, Sunday painter, so art was the way to get parental approval, and there was always an abundance of art supplies in the house. The only art training he has received took place in school, but by the time he was in 10th grade he refused to take art in school because he could not endure being told what to paint, or how to paint it. Basically, tex is a self-trained artist, trained by loving pictures and painting as often as possible. The artist paints daily, but he earns his living as a social worker employed by the child welfare section of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. About a year ago tex moved from working directly with abused and neglected children to working the state-wide Abuse and Neglect Hotline. Like artist and poet e e cummings, tex also writes daily and is the author of one published novel (The Wewoka Switch) and a book of poetry (Portrait of the Artist as a Wild Hare).
